For the first time, the new 2018 Honda CR-V will come with 7-seat configuration and diesel powertrain.

Japanese automaker, Honda will launch 2 new premium products – new Civic and new CR-V in India before the end of this financial year. The first model to go on sale will be the new-generation CR-V, which is scheduled to be launched before Diwali, 2018. On the other hand, the new Civic will be launched in the first quarter of 2019. The model we are talking here is the new CR-V, which was first unveiled for Indian audience at the Auto Expo 2018.

For the first time, the new 2018 Honda CR-V will come with 7-seat configuration and diesel powertrain. The global model is already on sale and is equipped with a newly developed 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. Honda has already started producing this powertrain in India at its production facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan. Besides this, the new CR-V will continue with the tried and tested 2.4-litre i-VTEC naturally aspirated petrol engine. Also See – 2018 Honda CR-V – 5 big changes

In the global markets, the Honda CR-V gets a more powerful twin-turbocharged 1.6-litre i-DTEC engine producing 160bhp and 350Nm of torque. However, the India-spec model will get a lower-powered, single-turbo unit that produces 120bhp of power and 300Nm of torque. Honda claims that the lowered-powered version has been tuned to deliver real-world performance. Moreover, the engine will be coupled to 9-speed automatic gearbox with shortened gear ratios that improves the overall performance. The Honda CR-V for India is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in 11.2 seconds, which is quite impressive. Also See – New Honda CR-V Photos & Details
