Ford’s Upcoming Compact SUV Digitally Imagined

Ford Ka Crossover Rendered

A new rendering from Klebar Silva previews Ford’s upcoming compact SUV based on the B-platform.

American automaker, Ford is currently selling the Figo Crossover called the Freestyle and the EcoSport SUV based on the B platform. The company has already started working on the next-gen EcoSport, which is expected to be launched in the international markets in 2021. The next-gen Ford EcoSport will also be launched in our market, but the India-spec model will be developed by Ford-Mahindra joint venture.

Digital artist Klebar Silva has released a new digital rendering, which shows the possible design of the Ka Crossover. The new rendering reveals a compact SUV, which shares some of the styling cues from the global-spec Ford Escape SUV. The new renderings also resembles the previous renderings of the next-gen EcoSport revealed on the Internet

The digital rendering of the new Ford Ka crossover has rounded front profile, featuring sculpted bonnet, dual-tone bumper, butterful grille with honeycomb pattern and silver skid plate. The SUV’s headlamp design is also sourced from the new Escape SUV, which is sweptback. It gets LED headlamps with daytime running lights.

The rendering has squared off wheel arches, black plastic cladding all around the body, dual-tone ORVMs, chrome door handles and blackened C-pillar. It gets sloping roofline with grey colour roof rails. The rear design seems inspired by the new Endeavour and the Escape SUVs. It gets roof integrated spoiler, shark fin antenna, C-shaped tail-lamps, and dual-tone bumper with silver skid plate.

The next-gen Ford EcoSport is rumoured to be based on the longer wheelbase, which should allow the company to create more space inside the cabin. Internally called the ‘Project BX775’, the new model is claimed to be developed on very unique lines and will be vastly different from the outgoing model. In India, the new model will source the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine from Mahindra. This engine is capable of producing 130bhp of power.
