Tata Gravitas, HBX Micro SUV Launching Before March 2021

While the Tata Gravitas will be launched during festive season Diwali, the new HBX will go on sale before March 2021

Tata Motors confirmed that the Harrier based 7-seater Gravitas and the HBX concept based micro SUV will be launched before the end of financial year 2021 (April 2020 – March 2021). Adding to it, Tata Motors has also revealed that the Gravitas 7-seater SUV will be launched during festive season that is September-October 2020. On the other hand, the HBX micro SUV will be launched by the end of this year or in the first quarter of 2021.

Tata Gravitas Auto Expo 2020

The Tata Gravitas 7-seater SUV was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo in production avatar. The SUV will be offered with 6- and 7-seat options. It will directly rival the soon-to-be-launched MG Hector Plus and the Mahindra XUV500, which will also receive new-gen model in early 2021. The Gravitas will be the second Tata product to be based on the new OMEGA platform.

On the flip side, the Tata HBX micro SUV will be based on the ALFA modular platform that also underpins the Altroz premium hatchback. Internally called the Tata Hornbill, the new micro SUV will directly rival the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT. The new SUVs are designed on Tata’s new IMPACT 2.0 DESIGN language.

Tata HBX Micro SUV

The Tata HBX will be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that produces the Tiago and the Altroz. This engine produces 85bhp and 110Nm of torque. Both manual and AMT versions will be on offer. The company could also offer the new 100bhp, 1.2L petrol engine with the HBX micro SUV.

The Tata Gravitas 7-seater will be powered by a BSVI compliant 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine, which also powers the Harrier. This engine produces 170bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed torque convertor automatic. It will also get Terrain Response System with three modes – Wet, Rough and Normal along with multiple drive modes Eco, City and Sport.
