BS6 Maruti Vitara Brezza, S-Cross Petrol Launch Details Revealed

Maruti Suzuki India will soon introduce the BS6-compliant petrol version of the Vitara Brezza subcompact SUV and S-Cross crossover. Talking to an online media publication, Maruti Suzuki’s Executive Director, Shashank Srivastava, revealed that the BS6 Maruti Vitara Brezza and S-Cross petrol will go on sale in the fourth quarter of this fiscal year (i.e. January-March, 2020). Reports suggest that the BS6 Maruti Vitara Brezza and S-Cross petrol will come with the company’s new 1.5L K15B engine that’s good for 103.5bhp and 138Nm. This gasoline unit will be benefited with Suzuki’s SHVS dual-battery mild hybrid system. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.

BS6 Maruti S Cross

The Fiat-sourced 1.3L Multijet diesel engine, that powers both models, will be discontinued post 1st April, 2019. The Indo-Japanese carmaker will not upgrade the small diesel vehicles to meet the BS6 emission norms, but might reconsider if the demand exists. The carmaker managed to sell over 3 lakh units of the BS6-compliant cars in the country. The first BS6-ready Maruti Suzuki car was rolled out about 7 months ago. In October 2019, the company sold around 1 lakh BS6 passenger vehicles. Maruti Suzuki claims that its BS6-compliant petrol vehicles produce around 25% less Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) and are capable of running on BS4 fuel.
