Both the motorcycles are produced at TVS Motor Company’s plant in Hosur, near Bengaluru. First previewed at the 2015 EICMA, the BMW G 310 R has been positioned against the TVS Apache RR 310 and KTM 390 Duke in India. Here’re five things you should know about the BMW G 310R.

1. Most Affordable BMW

As mentioned above, BMW’s entry-level 300cc naked streetfighter is produced at TVS Hosur plant with high level of localization that has helped bikemaker achieve competitive pricing. The G 310 R has been offered at Rs 2.99 lakh (ex-showroom), thus making it the most affordable BMW motorcycle in the country. Though, it’s significantly pricier than its arch rivals – KTM 390 Duke and TVS Apache RR 310 – that cost Rs 2.26 lakh and Rs 2.23 lakh respectively. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

2. Developed Jointly By BMW And TVS

TVS Apache RR 310 is the first bike, which is developed in collaboration with BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor Company. The BMW G 310 R is the next product which has been developed under this partnership. While BMW Motorrad has designed and developed the bike with its expertise of developing performance oriented machines, TVS takes care of the manufacturing part. TVS’ Hosur-based facility near Bengaluru serves as production hub for the G 310 R in India.

3. Shares Engine With TVS Apache RR 310

At the heart of the new BMW naked streetfighter is a 313cc, single-cylinder engine that also powers the TVS Apache RR 310. The motor has reverse layout with cylinder placed towards the rear, with the intake at the front and the exhaust towards the rear. However, TVS customized ECU (Engine Control Unit) of the engine for better throttle and engine responses. The gasoline unit can make a top power of 33.5bhp at 9,700rpm and 27.3Nm of torque at 7,700rpm. The BMW G 310 R delivers a top speed of 145kmph. Read – Top 10 Upcoming Bikes in India
