Bajaj-Triumph Partnership – Bajaj Avenger 700 In The Works?

Bajaj Auto and the British bike manufacturer Triumph Motorcycles will make formal announcement of their alliance on 24th January, 2020. Under the non-equity partnership, the bikemakers will develop a new range of mid-capacity motorcycles that will be manufactured at Bajaj’s Chakan based plant in Pune. These motorcycles will come with Triumph branding for global markets.

 With this alliance, the Triumph Motorcycles aims to enter into the 300-750cc motorcycle segment and Bajaj will foray into the larger capacity bike segment. According to a fresh media report, both brands are jointly working on a 700cc displacement motorcycle that will be an entry-level product from Triumph and a flagship model from Bajaj.

While details of the new Bajaj-Triumph 700cc motorcycle are scanty, it might come with a badge of Bajaj Avenger 700. In the mid premium motorcycle segment, it will take head-to-head against multiple products right from Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 to Harley Davidson Street 750. Compared to the small displacement variants, the Bajaj Avenger 700 is likely to get a more robust chassis along with updated braking system, better suspension setup and larger tyres. The new 700cc engine platform based bike from Bajaj and Triumph is likely to involve high-level of localization in India. The first product under the Bajaj-Triumph partnership is reported to hit showrooms sometime in 2022.
