Bajaj-Triumph to Officially Join Hands on January 24, 2020

Bajaj-Triumph Partnership

In 2017, Bajaj and Triumph announced that they would be entering a global partnership. Now, the companies have announced that the duo will officially enter into the alliance on January 24, 2020.

The companies will sign a formal agreement on the non-equity partnership to manufacture a new range of mid-capacity motorcycles in India. Details about the type of motorcycles to be manufactured are yet to be revealed; however, more details are expected to be announced on January 24, 2020.

Bajaj Triumph 500cc bike

While the official announcement is yet to be announced, Bajaj-Triumph alliance has already started developing new motorcycles. Triumph has already started conducting early testing of prototypes; however, the company is yet to reveal about the products to be launched. It is expected that Triumph will launch new motorcycles in the 300-500cc segment. If reports are to be believed, the alliance will launch the first bike in the couple of years, most probably in early 2022.

The two motorcycle manufacturers are expected to produce a wide range of middleweight motorcycles in the 300-500cc segment, which will be based on a single engine platform. The new bikes will be sold under Triumph nameplate, and design and engineering will be from Hinckley. However, the new motorcycles will be manufactured by Bajaj Auto at its manufacturing facility in Chakan, Pune. The new motorcycles are expected to target emerging markets including India, Africa, Latin America and South East Asia. For people not in the know, Bajaj Auto is India’s largest exporter of motorcycles. Triumph will utilise the Bajaj’s expertise to export the upcoming middle-weight motorcycles to emerging markets.
