First Bajaj-Triumph Motorcycle To Be A 500cc Single; Launch By 2020

Bajaj Auto and its British partner, Triumph are jointly developing bikes for the global and Indian market. Reports in media indicate the first bike under the Bajaj-Triumph alliance will be a 500cc single cylinder motorcycle. As for its India debut, the first bike co-developed by Bajaj and Triumph could be introduced sometime in 2020. While the project is yet in nascent stage, sources in the know opine it could be a mid-capacity model, aimed at the 250cc-750cc segment. Reports further suggest, a prototype of the project has been finalised under the partnership.

The British two-wheeler manufacturer eyes benefitting from this alliance by witnessing surge in sales in the domestic market. According to media reports, Triumph India is looking at increasing its sales to 1 lakh unit under the partnership. Check Out – Upcoming Bajaj Bikes In India

Officials at Triumph Motorcycles have confirmed to mutually chalking out final elements of its alliance with Bajaj. At present, Triumph’s global sales stands at 64,000 units out of which India’s contribution is just 2 per cent that accounts for just 4,500 units. Under this alliance, both Bajaj and Triumph will not only benefit from their individual expertise but will also share investment and knowledge for developing better products. The Bajaj-Triumph alliance will focus at mid capacity segment (250cc to 700cc), whereas Triumph will concentrate on above 500cc segment. Furthermore, the British motorcycle manufacturer not only aims at increasing its sales in India but it also plans to assemble 90 per cent of its product locally by mid-2018.
