MG Comet

MG Comet EV Price

MG Motor India will unveil the Comet 2-door electric car in April 2023. The model, which will be based on the Wuling Air EV, is expected to cost from Rs 10 lakh onwards. While its specifications are yet to be revealed, the new MG electric car is likely to come with a battery of around 20-25kWh capacity and a single 68bhp, electric motor. In order to achieve aggressive pricing, the carmaker will source its battery locally from Tata Auto Comp. The MG Comet is expected to deliver a range of up to 300km. Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door is one of the most-awaited new cars that will go on sale in coming months (possibly in late May). Powering the lifestyle, off-road SUV will be a 1.5L K15B petrol engine with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The motor produces a maximum power of 105bhp and 134Nm of torque. The SUV has Suzuki’s AllGrip Pro AWD system with a manual transfer case and a low-range gearbox. The Jimny 5-door will be offered in Zeta and Alpha trims, which are likely to cost from Rs 12 lakh. Hyundai Casper Launch India

Hyundai’s upcoming micro SUV (Ai3) will hit roads by August 2023. Measuring around 3.8 metres in length, it will be the smallest SUV from the South Korean automaker in India. For power, the micro SUV is likely to use a 1.2L naturally aspirated engine sourced from the Grand i10 Nios. Besides powertrain, it will share its platform with its hatchback sibling. The mini SUV will have upright SUV-ish stance and boxy body built. Its split headlamp setup will be similar to the Venue with LED DRLs placed at the top. New Honda SUV

Honda’s Creta rivalling SUV is among the big new cars coming this year. It will make its first appearance in the month of June, followed by its market launch. The midsize SUV will be designed on the City’s platform and share its design elements with Honda’s global SUVs. Initially, it’s likely to be offered with a 1.5L petrol engine that’s good enough for 121bhp. The City’s 1.5L petrol Atkinson cycle or a turbo-petrol engine will be made available at a later stage. On the feature front, the new Honda SUV will offer ADAS tech along with connected car tech, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, etc. More details here…

Nissan X-Trail

Nissan X-Trail Hybrid

Nissan X-Trail will be the first strong hybrid car from the Japanese automaker in India. The SUV is reported to go on sale in mid 2023. It will be based on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-C platform and come with the 1.5L e-Power powertrain and 2WD and AWD systems. While the former makes power worth 204bhp with 330Nm, the latter delivers 213bhp with 500Nm. In global markets, the X-Trail is also available with the 2.5L petrol and 1.5L turbo petrol with mild hybrid tech options. New Maruti MPV

The new Maruti MPV will be based on the Toyota Innova Hycross and it’s expected to launch during 2023 festive season. It will be the most expensive offering from the Indo-Japanese automaker that will be sold via Nexa dealership. While Maruti’s MPV will share its platform and features with the Innova Hycross, it will receive a few design changes in the front grille, bumpers, headlamps and at the rear section. Interior theme could also be different. Under the hood, the MPV will feature the 2.0L, 4-cylinder strong hybrid and 2.0L non-hybrid engines making 184bhp and 172bhp respectively. More details here…

Tata Motors showcased the Altroz Racer Edition at this year’s Auto Expo. It’s essentially the sportier version of the hatchback with some cosmetic enhancements and feature upgrades. One of its major attractions is the 1.2L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that’s tuned for generating power worth 120bhp and 170Nm of torque. The motor comes paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Inside, the Altroz Racer has a new 10.25-inch touchscreen with updated interface and new graphics, a new 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, ventilated front seats and an air purifier as standard fitments. The all-black upholstery with red contrast stitching, red and white stripes and Racer embossing on the head restraints add more to its sporty appeal. More details here…
