Honda Cars India recently introduced the City sedan with RDE-compliant engines, a bunch of new features and minimal design updates. Now, the Japanese automaker is gearing up to bring its all-new mid-size by mid 2023 (i.e between July – September). The new Honda SUV will challenge dominance of the Hyundai Creta along with taking on the Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder and Kia Seltos. Here’re everything we know about the upcoming Honda mid-size SUV.
ADAS
The latest set of spy images confirmed that Honda’s Creta rival will come with radar-based ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) tech. It will offer advanced safety features such as collision mitigation braking system, lane keeping assist system, automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation system, adaptive cruise control and auto high-beam. The model could also be packed with 6 airbags, vehicle stability management, electronic stability control, hill launch assist, ABS with EBD and an electronic parking brake. There will also be a 360 degree camera, connected car tech, Honda’s Lane Watch system and many more goodies.
Hybrid Powertrain
Engine specifications of the new Honda SUV are still under the wraps. Reports suggest that the SUV will come with the 1.5L iVTEC petrol and 1.5L Atkinson cycle with e:HEV hybrid tech. The gasoline unit makes a top power of 121bhp and 145Nm of torque. It will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic gearbox. The hybrid setup returns a combined power of 109bhp with 253Nm of torque.
Global Honda SUVs’ Inspired Design
Design and styling of the new Honda SUV will be inspired by the global-spec new WR-V. Upfront, there will be a mesh-type grille, LED headlamps with LED DRLs and a long bonnet. The SUV will carry upright stance along with a slightly tapered roofline, a large glass areas, an electric sunroof, a tailgate mounted spoiler and wraparound taillamps with LED elements.
