Innova Hycross Based New Maruti MPV To Be Revealed By August 2023

As part of Toyota-Suzuki ongoing model-sharing partnership, Toyota will provide its newly introduced Innova Hycross to Maruti Suzuki. MSIL will make some changes to the MPV before launching under its nameplate in our market. In fact, Maruti’s version of the Hycross has already been spotted testing on the Indian roads. A new media report claims that the new Maruti MPV based on Hycross will make its debut by August 2023.

The new Maruti premium MPV will be sold through NEXA dealership network. Set to be the brand’s flagship model, the new MPV will be positioned above the Grand Vitara and the XL6. The Ertiga and XL6 are present in the affordable MPV space, while the new Hycross based MPV will allow Maruti Suzuki to grab some market share in the premium segment.

Toyota Innova Hycross Variants

While the Innova Crysta is based on the body-on-frame chassis with RWD setup, the new Innova Hycross is based on a monocoque TNGA-C platform with front-wheel-drive layout. It comes fitted with several segment-leading features, which will also be first for Maruti Suzuki in India. The Crossover/MPV is equipped with features like dual-pane panoramic sunroof, ventilated & powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, powered second-row seats with ottoman function, a new 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech, a 360 degree camera and a digital driver’s display.

It will also be first Maruti Suzuki model to feature ADAS tech with features like automatic emergency braking and lane assist. It also gets vehicle stability control, six airbags, & front and rear parking sensors. Expected to be priced over 20 lakh, the new MPV will directly rival the Kia Carnival. It could also impact the sales of 7-seater SUVs including the Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and the Mahindra XUV700.

Toyota Innova Hycross Interior Details

The new Maruti MPV based on the Innova Hycross will be offered with a strong hybrid powertrain. It will use a 2.0L petrol engine along with the hybrid tech, offering a combined output of 186PS and 206Nm of torque. It is mated to an e-CVT automatic unit. The MPV is claimed to return an impressive fuel economy of 21.1kmpl. The regular variant will use the 2.0L NA petrol engine paired to a CVT automatic gearbox. This engine produces 174PS and 205Nm of torque.
