The automobile industry witnessed several new car/SUV launches this year. The remaining few weeks of 2021 also holds some excitement for the automobile enthusiasts as there are 6 new models ready to debut and launch in the country. Here’s a brief on the upcoming new cars.

New Suzuki S-Cross

2022 Suzuki S-Cross Debut

The new-generation Suzuki S-Cross will make its first appearance in Europe in the last week of November 2021. The model will be launched in Spain during this Christmas and its India launch will happen sometime next year. A few noticeable changes will be made inside and out. Though, the major update will come in the form of the new mild hybrid technology (SHVS) meeting European emission standards. The hybrid system will be paired to a 1.5L petrol engine. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.

The second-generation Kia Niro is ready to unveil at the Seoul Mobility Show on 25th November 2021. The model will carry the brand’s new ‘Opposites United’ design language and derive some of its design elements from the HabaNiro concept. The recently release teaser shows its aggressively designed front fascia, a wide grille and sharply designed LED DRLs. Inside the cabin, the electric crossover SUV will receive a bunch of new features. It will be offered with the existing electric powertrain. The automaker might also introduce hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options.

Kia KY

Kia has confirmed that its upcoming new three-row Kia KY (codename) model will debut on 16th December 2021. Its final production model could be called Kia Carens. The KY will be one of the most important car launches of the next year. It could be an MPV or a SUV, sharing its design elements, features and engines with the Seltos. Reports suggest the KY could be the first-in-segment to offer 6 USB-C type slots and one-touch electronic button to access the third row seats. It will come with 6 and 7-seats configurations. Powering the new Kia model might be a 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L diesel engines making 159bhp with 191Nm and 115bhp with 250Nm respectively.

New Suzuki WagonR

New 2022 WagonR Launch

The 7th-generation Suzuki WagonR hatchback will have its world premiere in Japan in December 2021. One must note that it will be the Japan-spec model and the WagonR is in its third-generation in India.  The 2022 Suzuki WagonR will drop boxy stance for angular design elements. Significant cosmetic changes and feature upgrades will be made to the new model. Under the hood, the new WagonR will feature R96D, 3-cylinder, in-line engine benefited with EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and rapid combustion system. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.

New Volkswagen Tiguan

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan SUV facelift is ready to launch on coming 7th December. The model lineup will drop the diesel motor and come with 2.0L, 4-cylinder TSI turbo petrol engine only. All variants will get a7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and Volkswagen’s 4MOTION AWD system as standard fitment. On the exterior, the SUV features a new grille, LED matrix headlamps with LED DRLs, revised bumpers, newly-designed alloys and new LED taillamps. Inside, it gets driver side electric seat with memory function and three zone climate control. It’s estimated to cost between Rs 26 lakh – Rs 29 lakh (ex-showroom).

New Maruti Celerio CNG

The new-generation Maruti Celerio is one of the major new car launches of this year. The hatchback is currently available with a new 1.0L, 3-cylinder K10C Dualjet petrol engine with Idle Start/Stop system. In December 2021, the automaker will bring in its CNG variant. Though, its official launch date is yet to be announced. The hatchback will come with the 1.0L Dualjet petrol motor paired to a factory-fitted CNG kit. Compared to gasoline model, the power and torque outputs of the CNG variant will be slightly lower. The CNG kit will be available with the 5-speed manual gearbox only.
