Japanese automaker, Suzuki is developing a wide range of new models for India as well as international markets. The company is preparing the next-gen S-Cross, Alto, WagonR, Swift and the Vitara. In fact, Maruti Suzuki is also working on next-gen Vitara Brezza, Alto and a new mid-sized SUV for India as well as some international markets. The big news is that the new gen Suzuki S-Cross will make European debut in the last week of November 2021.
The new gen Suzuki S-Cross is reportedly to be launched in Spain during Christmas, in December 2021. It was reported that the new S-Cross will arrive in 2022; however, Juan Lopez Frade, President of Suzuki Iberica said that the new model will make first global appearance through a virtual presentation next month in Spain.
The new gen Suzuki S-Cross hasn’t been spotted on roads, and details about the design changes on offer are yet to be revealed. It is expected that the new model will retain the original crossover-ish design; and is not likely to receive drastic design changes. However, some of the styling elements are expected to be completely new including the front grille, lighting system, alloy wheel design.
The biggest change will be made under the hood. Suzuki is focusing on electrification, and the new gen S-Cross will receive major improvements in terms of hybrid tech. The new model will receive light hybrid technology to achieve European emission norms. Called the SHVS (Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System), the new mild-hybrid system will be coupled with petrol engine.
The European-spec S-Cross will receive a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a 48-volt system. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual gearbox and an automatic gearbox. The company will also add Suzuki’s AllGrip 4×4 drive system. The 1.5L engine is capable of producing 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. The crossover could also receive a 1.4L Boosterjet turbo engine that offers 127bhp and 235Nm of torque.
