Kia KY (Kia Carens) 6/7-Seater – 5 Key Facts We Know So Far

The South Korean automaker is ready to expand its Indian product portfolio an addition of a new 6/7-seater model codenamed – Kia KY. The new Kia family car will have its world premiere on 16th December 2021. Its production model is likely to be named Kia Carens as the company recently trademarked the nameplate in the country. Once launched, it will lock horns against the cars like Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Marazzo and the upcoming Hyundai compact MPV. Here’re 5 key details we know so far about the upcoming Kia 6/7-seater car.

The model is currently in its testing phase and it has been spotted multiple times. The latest spy images reveal that the upcoming Kia KY appears longer than the Seltos, thanks to its longer wheelbase, a wider rear quarter glass and overhangs. Though, it looks exactly similar to the Seltos till B-pillar.

The front fascia of the new Kia family car will carry the brand’s signature Tiger Nose grille with chrome highlights, newly designed LED fog lamps and wide airdams. It will have newly-designed alloy wheels, black cladding on wheel arches and side profile, a floating roof and LED taillamps.

Interior of the upcoming Kia KY (Kia Carens) is still a mystery to us. Though, it’s likely to come with 6 and 7-seats configurations and separate AC controls and curtains for the middle row passengers. While its official details are yet to be revealed, the model is likely to come with the Kia’s UVO connected car tech, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, ambient lighting and an electric sunroof.

Under the hood, the new Kia 6/7-seater car might feature a 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine making power worth 159bhp and 191Nm of torque. It will also be offered with the 1.5L diesel engine producing 115bhp with 250Nm. It can be had either with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
