– Jeep Renegade

Buoyed by excellent response for Compass, Jeep is now planning to introduce its globally popular and smallest SUV – Renegade in India. In fact, testing of the SUV has already been commenced on Indian roads. It is based on Fiat’s Small-Wide platform that also underpins the Compass, which means localisation won’t be an issue. Adding to it, Jeep is aiming a low price tag of Rs 10 lakh for the base Renegade. It will directly rival the Hyundai Creta and Renault Captur. Suzuki Vitara

After conquering the sub-4 meter SUV segment with Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki is now planning to enter into the 5-seater premium SUV segment. The company is planning to introduce the global Suzuki Vitara in India. This SUV has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. It is based on the stretched version of the Suzuki’s C platform that also underpins the Vitara Brezza. This 5-seater SUV will directly rival the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. – Honda HRV

Japanese automaker, Honda is considering its global SUV – Honda HR-V – for the Indian car market. This will be brand’s 5-seater premium SUV to challenge the likes of Hyundai Creta and Jeep Compass. It is based on Jazz platform, which means localisation won’t be an issue. Honda is aiming at a sweet spot in terms of positioning, somewhere between Creta and Compass. Toyota CHR/Rush

Another Japanese brand, Toyota is aiming to enter into the 5-seater premium SUV segment with its unconventional and stylish global SUV – CHR. Few reports suggest that the company could opt for Toyota Rush instead of CHR. The reason is that CHR is based on TNGA platform and local development of this SUV would require huge investment. Skoda Karoq

Czech automaker, Skoda had launched the Kodiaq 7-seater premium SUV in India in late 2017. The company is now planning to launch its global Karoq 5-seater premium SUV. This model will come as a replacement for the Yeti SUV, which failed to live up to the company’s expectation. The Karoq SUV is based on VW Group’s MQB platform that also underpins the Octavia and Kodiaq. It is powered by a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine paired to either a six-speed manual and automatic gearbox.
