4 Mahindra Diesel Cars Discontinued – BS6 Effect

Mahindra Nuvosport Discontinued

With the implementation of the BS6 emission norms (enforced from 1st April, 2020), several vehicles have been discontinued from the Indian market. Mahindra & Mahindra has upgraded its popular models to comply with new emission standards and discontinued some of the old diesel models simultaneously. The Verito and Verito Vibe were available with a 1.5L diesel engine that’s good for 65PS and 160Nm of torque. For performing transmission duties, both models have a 5-speed manual gearbox. Prices of the Mahindra Verito were starting from Rs 7.48 lakh and going up to Rs 8.87 lakh, while the Verito Vibe was priced from Rs 6.58 lakh to Rs 7.52 lakh. The Mahindra Xylo was offered with a 2.2L mHawk and a 2.5L mDI CRDe diesel powertrains paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Mahindra Xylo Discontinued

While the 2.2L oil burner was promised to return power worth 120PS against 280Nm of torque, the 2.5L motor delivered 95PS and 218Nm of torque. The MPV was available in the price range of Rs 9.17 lakh – Rs 12 lakh. Launched in 2016, the Mahindra NuvoSport was offered with a 1.5L, 3-cylinder mHawk diesel motor pushing out a peak power of 100PS and a peak torque of 240Nm. The subcompact SUV can be had either with a 5-speed manual gearbox or an optional 5-speed AMT unit.

Talking about Mahindra’s future plan, the home-grown carmaker is ready to give a generation change to its 4 popular SUVs – XUV500, Scorpio, Thar, Bolero. All four models will witness significant exterior and interior changes along with the new mStallion engines. The company will also give a mid-life update to the Alturas flagship SUV sometime next. Besides this, Mahindra XUV300 Sportz and XUV300 electric SUV have also been planned for the Indian market. While the former will hit showrooms post lockdown, the latter will come next year.
