4 Mahindra SUVs To Get A Generation Change

Mahindra & Mahindra has several new models in the pipeline for the Indian market. The home-grown carmaker will also expand its electric vehicle portfolio with the XUV300 subcompact SUV. Besides this, the company will give a generation change to its four highly popular SUVs. Here’re the important details of the upcoming new-generation Mahindra SUVs.

1. Mahindra Thar

Mahindra Thar will be the first one to enter into its new generation. While the official launch details are yet to be revealed by the carmaker, it’s likely to hit showrooms in June 2020. The 2020 Mahindra Thar will surely be better equipped and safer than the current model. The SUV will also witness comprehensive cosmetic upgrades along with a new 190bhp, 2.0L mStallion petrol engine. The diesel version of the Thar will get the BS6-complaint version of the existing 2.2L diesel motor.

2. Mahindra Scorpio

The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will be built on an all-new platform and designed by the carmaker’s in-house design team with inputs from Pininfarina. The SUV will also receive significant design changes along with a pack of new comfort and connectivity features. The existing 2.2L diesel engine will be replaced with a new 2.0L turbocharged oil burner generating power worth 160bhp. The SUV will also come with the new BS6-compliant 2.0L turbocharged mStallion petrol engine that’s good for 190bhp.

3. Mahindra XUV500

The new-generation Mahindra XUV500 will take its design inspiration from the Mahindra Funster concept that broke cover at this year’s Auto Expo. Based on an all-new monocoque chassis, the 2021 XUV500 will witness noticeable dimensional changes. It’s likely to get several segment-leading features. Under the hood, the SUV will feature a new BS6-complaint 2.0L diesel and a new 2.0L mStallion petrol engine. While the former will deliver power close to 180bhp, the latter one is good enough for 190bhp.

4. Mahindra Bolero

The carmaker recently rolled out the BS6-compliant version of the Bolero SUV. The vehicle will enter into its new generation sometime next year. Similar to the next-generation Thar, the 2021 Mahindra Bolero will underpin a new platform. Major changes are likely to be made to its design and interior. The SUV might be offered with the existing BS6-compliant 1.5L mHawk75 diesel engine paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
