A few days back, we have reported that the South Korean carmaker might bring the Hyundai Starex premium MPV in the Indian market. Expected to launch in 2021, the MPV will be placed against the Toyota Innova Cyrsta and the newly-launched Kia Carnival. In global markets, the Starex is ready to enter into its third-generation with comprehensive cosmetic changes. Recently, a semi-camouflaged prototype of the 2021 Hyundai Starex was spotted testing in Korea.

Compared to the previous model, the 2021 Hyundai Starex MPV will be taller. Upfront, the test mule carries a wide radiator grille and split LED headlamps. The front end and A-pillar are likely to be more curvaceous than the existing model. On the lower section of the license plate, there is a distance recognizing radar that hints it will come with semi-autonomous driving technology.

Similar to the existing model, the new-generation Starex will offer sliding doors for the second row passengers. Most of the design bits and features are likely to be carried over from the existing model including LED taillamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, double swing rear door, a freestanding 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 360 degree camera. Globally, the 2021 Hyundai Starex MPV will be offered with multiple engine options. If launched in India, it’s likely to be come with a 2.2L turbocharged diesel engine that does duty in the Kia Carnival. The turbo oil burner delivers a maximum power of 197bhp against 440Nm of torque. The MPV might be equipped with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and FWD (front-wheel-drive) system.
