Skoda Karoq To Come In Petrol Version Only – Key Details
Czech automaker, Skoda has officially confirmed that the much-awaited Karoq 5-seater SUV will be launched in April 2020. Interested buyers can pre-book the SUV at a token amount of Rs 50,000 across all authorized dealerships and on the Skoda Auto India website. Deliveries for the SUV are scheduled to commence from May 6, 2020.
The Skoda Karoq will be brought to India as a CKD unit, and is likely to be priced around Rs 20 lakh. The SUV will rival the Jeep Compass and the Hyundai Tucson. Paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, the 1.5L engine is capable of producing 148bhp of power and 250Nm of torque. The same engine will also power the upcoming Skoda Vision IN based SUV and the Volkswagen Taigun. Unlike the global model that comes with 4X4 drivetrain, the India-spec version comes with FWD (front-wheel-drive) system.
Skoda Karoq is based on the Volkswagen Group’s versatile MQB platform, which also underpins the Kodiaq, Superb and the Octavia sedan. In terms of proportions, the Karoq SUV is 4,382mm in length, 1,814mm in width and 1,605mm in height. The SUV has a long wheelbase of 2,638mm and stands at a ground clearance of 200mm. The SUV also has a boot space of 521-litres, which can be further extended up to 1,810-litres by folding the rear seats completely. The Skoda Karoq is one of the safest SUVs in its category. The Euro NCAP has awarded the SUV a score of 93% for its adult protection and 5 start rating overall.
The Skoda Karoq 5-seater premium SUV is equipped with several high-end comfort and convenience features.
