In light of the recent imposition of Bharat Stage IV emission norms across vehicles in India, India Yamaha Motor has introduced the 2017 Yamaha FZ S and FZ FI models with BS IV compliant engines. Additionally, the Blue Core enabled bikes also get new colour options and additional features including the AHO. The AHO or the automatic-headlamp on feature has been added to both the motorcycles in tandem with the government’s mandate to include the feature across all two-wheelers.
The new FZ-S and FZ FI now come with advanced features such as advanced midship muffler, wide tubeless radial rear tyre, front disc brake, monocross suspension, muscular front fork and split tandem seat with grab bar. Sporting updates and BS IV compliant engine, the new FZ S is available at Rs 82,789 and the FZ FI is priced at Rs 80,726 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Yamaha is now offering the FZ-S model with five colour options including- Hurricane Gray, Knight Red, Lighting Cyan, Opal White and Matt Green. The FZ FI on the other hand is available with just two paint schemes-Bomber Black and Barrel Red.

The engine powering both the models now complies with the BS IV emission norms. Aside this, there has been no change on the 149cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve , fuel injected unit that continues making 13bhp of power at 8000rpm and 12.8Nm of torque at 6000rpm.
2017 Yamaha FZ S, FZ FI Colours
The new FZ S model is offered with five colour options-Hurricane Gray, Knight Red, Lighting Cyan, Opal White and Matt Green.
The FZ FI is available with only two paint schemes-Bomber Black and Barrel Red.
2017 Yamaha FZ S, FZ FI Dimensions
Built on the diamond frame Yamaha FZ-FI measures 2,073mm in length, 770mm in width and 1030mm in height. The seat height is set at 790mm and the wheelbase is around 1,330mm. With a kerb weight of 132kg, the bike offers 160mm of ground clearance and gets 12litres of fuel tank.
The FZ-S on the other hand is slightly different in numerical terms with 1050mm height, while rest of the proportions remain same as on the FZ FI.
Suspension Set Up-
Both the models use telescopic forks at front and swingarm set up at rear.
Braking System–
Power to retard speed comes from disc unit at front and drum brakes at rear on both the models.
