Renowned automakers are taking Indian market very seriously. In the past few years, we have witnessed a range of global cars making their debuts in India. In the past one month, we saw two global debuts in the form of Hyundai Venue and the MG Hector. Coming June, India will hold the global debuts of 2 more cars in the form of Renault Triber and the Kia SP2i.

Renault will unveil the Triber 7-seater crossover-MPV in the country on June 19, 2019. On the other hand, the production version of the Kia SP2i SUV will make its global debut in India on June 20, 2019. With the SP2i mid-sized SUV, Kia will officially start its innings in the Indian market. The trial production of the SUV has already been started at the company’s Andhra Pradesh.

The Kia SP2i mid-sized SUV will officially go on sale in the country in July or August 2019. The SUV will directly rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the Nissan Kicks. It is based on the thoroughly updated version of the existing Creta’s platform, which is compatible to accommodate longer wheelbase or 7-seater SUV. The company has already released the design sketches and interior pictures of the SP2i. The pictures suggest that the new model comes with premium interior and several high-end features.

The Kia SP2i is equipped with the segment-leading 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and several intelligent features. In terms of styling, the SUV gets the signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille, dual-headlamp setup, wider bumper, sculpted bonnet, roof rails, integrated roof spoiler, wrap-around tail-light and diamond cut alloys. The SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine. Kia is also working on the performance oriented version of the SUV, which is likely to get the 140PS, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

Talking about the Renault Triber, the 7-seater model is based on the thoroughly updated version of the CMF-A modular platform. The 7-seater crossover MPV will directly rival the Datsun GO+ and the upcoming Wagon R MPV. It gets the removable third row seats and the dedicated AC vents for the third row. The vehicle will be powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that also powers the Kwid, but this engine will be tuned for higher power outputs. Renault is also working on the turbocharged version of the 1.0-litre petrol engine.
