The Renault Triber 7-seater MPV will go on sale by mid-2019

The much-awaited Renault Triber 7-seater MPV has finally been launched in the Indian market. Available in 4 trims – RXE, RXS, RXT and RXZ, the new Triber is priced between Rs 4.95 lakh and Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). In terms of pricing, the new model will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Ford Figo.

The Renault Triber 7-seater MPV is based on the modified version of the Kwid’s CMF-A modular platform. The company has made changes to the platform to make it stronger enough to meet the upcoming crash test norms. It measures under 4 meter in length and is the second 7-seater car (first being the Datsun GO+ MPV) in its category.

Under the hood of the Renault Triber is an upgraded version of the Kwid’s 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine, which also powers the Renault Clio ad Dacia Sandero in international markets. Both manual and AMT version of the Triber is on offer. Design of the MPV has some resemblance with Kwid, but it gets more prominent grille, new headlamps and black plastic cladding.

The all-new Renault Triber MPV sits under 4 meter in length, which allows it to avail excise duty benefits. The Renault’s new 7-seater MPV is available in petrol avatar only. It is powered by a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine that also powers the Kwid hatchback. This engine has been tuned for higher power outputs. While powering the Triber, the 3-cylinder SCe petrol motor produces 71bhp of power at 6,250rpm and 96Nm of torque at 3500rpm. This is the same powertrain that also powers the Renault Clio and Dacia Sandero in the international markets. For transmission duties, the Triber MPV gets a 5-speed manual or an Easy-R AMT unit. Next year, the company will also introduce the turbocharged version of this engine in the Triber.

Renault Triber Mileage

Equipped with a smaller capacity engine, the Renault Triber is claimed to return high fuel efficiency. While the petrol manual delivers 20kmpl, the AMT model offers an ARAI certified fuel economy of 20.5kmpl.

Renault Triber Exterior

The Triber is based on a modified version of the Kwid’s CMF-A platform, which is strong enough to meet the upcoming crash test norms. This compact car shares some of the design with the Kwid, but gets bolder profile. It comes with new headlamps, a more prominent grille, sculpted clamshell bonnet, bigger bumper with wider air-dams, faux skid plate and stylish fog lamp enclosure. Side profile looks simple, dominated by 15-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, black plastic cladding around wheel arches and blackened pillars. The 7-seater MPV has an upright stance and has a squared-off rear section.

Dimensions

In terms of proportions, the Renault Triber is 3,990mm in length, 1,739mm in width and 1,643mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,636mm. The MPV has a kerb weight of 947kgs and offers a ground clearance of 182mm. It offers a boot space of 84-litres with all-7 seats in position and 320-litres with 6-seats in position. The MPV also has removable third row of seats, which improves the luggage space to 625-litres.

Colours – It is available in 5 exterior paint schemes – Electric Blue, Fiery Red, Moonlight Silver, ICE Cool White, Metal Mustard.

Renault Triber Interior

The Renault Triber 7-seater MPV comes with a dual-tone interior scheme. It gets an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with new intelligent features like driving style coaching and driver economy rating. There is a 3.5-inch LCD screen in the instrument console. The vehicle’s second row of seats can be adjusted horizontally and comes with a reclining and split folding function. The vehicle gets dedicated AC vents for all 3 rows. In fact, the third row of seats can be removed completely to increase the luggage space to 625-litres.

The Renault Triber offers 4 different seating options – Camping (2-seater with the second row folded), Surfing (4-seater with EasyFix seats), Life (5-seater) and Tribe (7-seater). In terms of safety and security, the Triber gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a speed alert and seat belt reminder as standard.
