12 Cars To Get CNG Variants In 2023 – Expected List

CNG vehicles have witnessed a steady growth this year. And proof of this lies in the fact that CNG passenger cars now account for about 10 percent of India’s total car sales, which was 8 percent in January 2022. The new launches and lower operational cost than the diesel/petrol vehicles are further encouraging demand of the CNG vehicles. Maruti Brezza CNG

Maruti Brezza CNG

The Maruti Brezza CNG is expected to arrive in early 2023. The model will come with the 1.5L K15C petrol engine making power worth 87bhp and 122Nm of torque. The CNG kit is reported to come with both manual and automatic gearbox, thus making it India’s first CNG automatic SUV. Its mileage figure is likely to be around 25-30km/kg. Tata Punch CNG/Altroz CNG/Nexon CNG

Tata Nexon Waiting Period

Tata Motors is likely to expand its CNG model lineup with the launch of Altroz CNG, Punch CNG and Nexon CNG in 2023. While the Punch CNG will come with the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine, the Altroz and Nexon CNG will have a 1.2L turbo petrol unit with the factory-fitted CNG kit. The Hyundai Creta is rumoured to receive CNG fuel variant with the mid-life update that’s due for early 2023. If reports are to be believed, the carmaker might replace the existing 1.4L turbo petrol engine with a new 1.5L turbo petrol unit that could be offered with the factory-fitted CNG kit as well. 2022 Kia Sonet features

Kia India might bring in the CNG variants of the Sonet subcompact SUV and Carens MPV in 2023. While the former is likely to be offered with the 1.0L turbo petrol engine, the latter might come with a new 1.5L turbo petrol motor. Both models are currently under their testing phase. 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta facelift

Toyota Innova Crysta is ready to receive an update sometime next year. With the mid-life update, the carmaker might introduce the 2.7L, 4-cylinder petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Citroen C3 Front Design

Citroen C3 CNG, which was recently caught testing, is expected to go on sale in early 2023. The model will be offered with the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine coupled to a factory-fitted CNG kit. Its power and torque outputs will be slightly lower than its ICE-powered version. Skoda Kushaq Deliveries

Skoda India has started testing the Kushaq CNG in the country. While there is no official word on its launch timeline, the model is expected to go on sale sometime in 2023. Here, it will be positioned against the soon-to-be-launched Maruti Grand Vitara CNG and Toyota Urban Cruiser CNG. The Skoda Kushaq CNG is likely to come with the 1.0L turbo petrol engine and its prices will be around Rs 1 lakh higher than its regular petrol counterpart. More details here…
