Here is a specifications based comparison between the new Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport.
Buoyed by positive response for Tiago and Tigor subcompact sedan, Tata Motors is now gearing up to enter into the growing sub-4 metre SUV segment. The company will launch the long-awaited Nexon compact SUV in the country during festive season 2017. The SUV raked in rave reviews from auto enthusiasts and auto experts at last year’s appearance during the 13th Auto Expo. As a reminder, the compact SUV first unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014 as a concept model. Positive response from visitors and critics had prompted Tata to launch this product in production guise. As the car is nearing production before its official launch during festive season this year, we pit it against one of the most popular models in that space, the Ford EcoSport. (Tata Nexon Vs Ford EcoSport price, specs, mileage & other details).
|Tata Nexon||Rs 6.50 to Rs 10.50 lakh (estimated)|
|Ford EcoSport||Rs 7.18 lakh to Rs 10.76 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)|
We have already seen Tata Motors aggressive approach towards its new breed of cars, which are injected with new tech and styling updates. The homegrown automaker is not leaving any stone unturned to make its cars successful. To an extent, Tata has achieved it with Tiago and its hatchback twin, Tigor. However, the company is yet to taste success in the subcompact SUV space where it will debut with the upcoming Nexon. As a part of Tata’s strategy, it is keen on positioning and pricing its cars aggressively to get cusp over rivals. It is expected that Tata Motors will follow the same strategy for the Nexon to make it a successful product in the highly competitive environment. We believe that the new Nexon could be priced in the range of Rs 6.50 lakh to Rs 10.50 lakh. The vehicle will undercut all of its rivals. Talking about Ford EcoSport, the popular American compact SUV prices start at Rs 7.18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) for base model and goes up to Rs 10.76 lakh for the Platinum Edition diesel trim (ex-showroom, Delhi).
