Maruti Suzuki is getting aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The company has already launched the new Baleno, Ertiga facelift and the new XL6 in the country. The Indo-Japanese automaker is also readying 3 big products, which are scheduled to be launched before the end of 2022.
Maruti Suzuki will launch the new Brezza in the next couple of months. Adding to it, MSIL has started trial production of the new compact SUV – codenamed YFG. Likely to arrive by festive season, the new model will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. MSIL is also testing the next-gen Maruti Alto, which is expected to be launched by late 2022.
– The next-gen Maruti Alto will be based on the brand’s new modular HEARTECT platform that underpins the new Wagon R, S-Presso and the new Celerio hatchback.
– Thanks to the new platform, the third-generation Alto will grow in size. Going by the spy images, it is visible that the new Alto will be taller and wider, and is likely to have a longer wheelbase than the outgoing car. Moreover, the new entry-level car will be lighter and more fuel efficient than the current model.
– The new Alto comes with an all-new design; however, it won’t get SUV-like design elements. The entry-level car will retain the basic shape and hatchback character. The small car comes with a newly design front fascia with a bigger grille, larger, sweptback headlamps and a new bumper. The hatchback also gets new fog lamp housings and a clamshell bonnet.
– Side profile of the hatchback looks identical to the existing car; however, it will be taller than the outgoing car. The production version is also likely to get a bigger 14-inch alloy wheels. At the back, the new-gen Alto gets new tailgate design. It will have a larger tail-lamp, a flatter tailgate and a new rear bumper.
– Interior details of the new-gen Suzuki Alto are yet to be revealed. It is likely to come with an all-new cabin with more features and more modern design. The high-end variant could get a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, keyless entry, semi-digital instrument console, power steering and dual airbags.
– The new-gen Maruti Alto is expected to get a new K10C dualjet 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine with idle start/stop system. This engine is capable of producing 67bhp and 89Nm of torque. It will also come with the 796cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine that is good for 47bhp and 69Nm of torque. Both manual and AMT gearboxes will be on offer. The hatchback is also likely to come with CNG version.
