Maruti Suzuki has officially launched the much-awaited new Baleno hatchback in the country. The 2022 Maruti Baleno is available at a starting price of Rs 6.35 lakh, which goes up to Rs 9.49 lakh for the top-end variant. Interested buyers can pre-book the hatchback online or at authorised NEXA dealerships at a token amount of Rs 11,000.

The new model is available in 4 trim levels – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha – and in total of 7 variants. Except for the base variant, the rest of the variants are offered with manual and AMT gearbox options.

The new Maruti Baleno hatchback is available in 6 exterior colours – Opulent Red, Grandeur Grey, Celestial Blue, Pearl Arctic, Grandeur Grey and Splendid Silver.
New Infotainment system
The new Baleno comes with a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This system is compatible with Amazon Alexa support and navigation along with Arkamys Sound System.
High-end Features
The 2022 Maruti Baleno comes equipped with several segment-leading features such as Heads-Up Display or HUD, a segment-first 360 degree camera, wireless phone charger, automatic air conditioning, multi-functional steering wheel, LED fog lamps, rear AC vents, height adjustable driver seat and Suzuki Connect tech with more than 40 features.
Safety Features
The new Baleno comes equipped with several high-end safety and security features including 6 airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child sseat anchorage, etc. It also comes with segment-first 360 degree camera. Maruti Suzuki has also improved the steel quality to improve the Baleno safety. The outer body panels and chassis have thicker grade of steel.
Engine Specifications
The 2022 Maruti Baleno is powered by a single 1.2-litre DualJet petrol engine with idle-engine start/stop system. This engine churns out a maximum power output of 89bhp and a peak torque of 113Nm. A 5-speed manual gearbox comes as standard. A 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) is offered as optional. For people not in the know, the previous Baleno was equipped with CVT automatic gearbox.
2022 Maruti Baleno Mileage
The new Baleno hatchback is claimed to return an ARAI certified fuel economy of 22.35kmpl, while the AMT variant delivers 22.94kmpl. The previous model was claimed to offer 23.87kmpl with manual and 19.56kmpl with CVT gearbox.
Dimensions
In terms of proportions, the 2022 Maruti Baleno is 3,990mm in length, 1,745mm in width and 1,500mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,520mm. The hatchback offers a fuel tank of 37-litres. The manual variants weigh between 920 kg and 955 kg, while the AMT models weigh between 935kg and 960kg.
Exterior Design
The new Maruti Baleno 2022 comes with all-new front fascia, featuring a wider front grille with an angular honeycomb pattern, new brushed silver strip at the base of the grille, new projector headlamps with LED DRLs & a flatter clamshell bonnet along with new bumper with larger fog lamp housings. At the back, the new Baleno has new tailgate design, new C-shaped LED tail-lights and reprofiled rear bumper.
