BS6 Toyota Fortuner Variant Details Leaked; Launch Next Week
Toyota India will soon roll out the BS6-compliant version of its top-selling Fortuner SUV. While the official launch details are yet to be revealed, a fresh media report claims that it will hit showrooms next week. In its BS4 form, the diesel motor delivers a maximum power of 177bhp and a peak torque of 420Nm. The oil burner can be had either with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic with paddle shifter transmission. The latter one offers an addition 30Nm of torque. The BS6 Toyota Fortuner diesel will continue to come with 2WD (two-wheel-drive) and 4WD (four-wheel-drive) options.
The naturally-aspirated petrol model, on the other hand, delivers a top power of 166bhp against 245Nm of torque. It comes with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic (with paddle shifters) gearbox options. The BS6 Toyota Fortuner diesel will come in Dark Brown and Chamois interior colour schemes and the petrol will be offered only in Dark Brown interior theme.
Prices of the BS6 Toyota Fortuner are likely to be increased by Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh. Currently, the 2.7L 4X2 manual and automatic petrol variants are available at Rs 28.18 lakh and Rs 29.77 lakh respectively. The diesel variants are priced from Rs 30.19 lakh (for the 2.8L 4X2 manual variant) to Rs 34.20 lakh (for the top-end 2.8L 4X2 AT-TRD variant). All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
The Japanese carmaker has also started testing the Toyota Fortuner facelift in Thailand. The update version of the SUV is likely to receive minor design changes and feature upgrades. The carmaker has also confirmed a new compact SUV that will be based on the Europe-spec Toyota Yaris hatchback.
