Japanese automaker, Toyota has started road-testing the facelifted version of the Fortuner SUV. The SUV was recently spotted testing for the first time in Thailand. First launched in 2015 in global markets, the new Fortuner entered India in 2016.
Going by the spy images, it is visible that the SUV receives cosmetic design changes. It comes with restyled front bumper and grille, which seems inspired by new-gen RAV4 SUV. The restyled bumper is likely to accommodate re-styled fog lamps. Adding to it, the new Fortuner is expected to receive revised headlamps and tail-lamps. There will be new plastic cladding running across the body. The SUV will receive newly styled alloy wheels. Also See – Toyota Innova Crysta BS6 Bookings Open – Price & Details
Interior details about the updated Fortuner are yet to be revealed, but it is likely to receive the upgraded infotainment system with modern day connectivity features. The SUV is also expected to receive new upholstery for seats.
The India-bound Toyota Fortuner facelift is likely to be offered with 2 BS6 compliant engines – a 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder petrol and a 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo-diesel. Recent media reports claim that the Fortuner could be offered with single-diesel engine, which is a BSVI compliant 2.4-litre unit. The company has recently discontinued the 2.8L Innova Crysta; however, we believe that the Fortuner will continue to be offered with the powerful 2.8L unit. The new Toyota Fortuner is likely to be launched in Thailand in the mid-2020. India launch is expected in the end of this year. Before the facelift, Toyota will launch the BSVI compliant Fortuner in India by March 2020. It will take on the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Skoda Kodiaq and the upcoming Volkswagen Tiguan AllSpace.
