4 New Mahindra SUVs To Debut At Auto Expo 2020
Asia’s largest and world’s second biggest automobile event – Delhi Auto Expo – is scheduled to start from 7th February 2020 at Expo Mart, Greater Noida. The biennial event will witness unveiling of some very exciting concepts and models along with some important product launches. While the carmaker hasn’t yet confirmed its lineup for the Expo, it’s likely to unveil the new-generation models of its three popular SUVs – Scorpio, XUV500 and Thar. The electric iteration of the Mahindra XUV300 subcompact SUV might also debut at the Auto Expo 2020.
Based on the updated ladder-frame chassis, the next generation Mahindra Scorpio will carry an all-new design with a longer wheelbase and stronger body built. Interior of the SUV is likely to be inspired by the Mahindra Alturas. It might also get the forward facing third row of seats.
Under the hood, the 2020 Mahindra Scorpio will house a new BS6-ready 2.0L diesel engine that’s will also power the new XUV500 and Thar. Claimed to be lighter (80kg) and more refined, the new motor will be tuned for generating three different power outputs – 140bhp, 148bhp and 185bhp. While the Scorpio will get its most powerful version (i.e. 185bhp), the XUV500 and Thar will receive 140bhp and 148bhp producing iterations.
Besides the new powertrains, the 2020 Mahindra Thar and XUV500 SUVs will also see significant changes inside and out. The carmaker is also working on the Mahindra XUV300 Electric that could make its first public appearance at the Auto Expo 2020.
