Launched in 2012, the Ford EcoSport has been one of the best-selling car for the American automaker. Ford had launched the EcoSport in India in June 2013, and the facelifted model was launched in late 2017. The current generation model is over 5 years old, and is set to receive a major makeover. For people not in the known, Ford EcoSport is based on the Fiesta platform. It is expected that the new generation model will use the thoroughly modified version of the existing platform. On closer look, it is visible that the new-gen model will have a slightly longer wheelbase. The rear overhang is also expected to be increased. The American-spec model measures 161.3 inches in length. The vehicle has been criticised for its odd-ball proportions in the US-market. It is expected that the next-gen model could be slightly longer and more powerful to further improve its sales. The current-generation Ford EcoSport is available with two engines – a turbocharged 1.0-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine with front-wheel drive, and a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit with four-wheel drive layout. It is expected the American auto-giant could feature s anew 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that also powers the current Fiesta.
