All New BSA Motorcycle In The Works

Mahindra Two-Wheeler has confirmed that it will revive the UK-based two-wheeler brand – BSA Company – in the country. This information has been revealed by Mahindra Group Chairman, Anand Mahindra via his twitter handle by sharing an old Chirstmas print ad of a BSA motorcycle. In his tweet, he confirmed that the company is working on an all-new motorcycle that will have “all character of old steed”.

His tweet reads, “We’re sorry you’ve missed out on your favourite ride for all these years, Santa…We’re working on getting it back for you…A shiny new one, but with all the character of your old steed…”

For people not in the know, Mahindra acquired the UK-based two-wheeler manufacturer BSA Company in October 2016. The two-wheeler maker took possession of 100 per cent shares capital of BSA Company via its Indian brand, Class Legends Private Limited. The home-grown automaker purchased all 1.2 lakh shares of the company with a total investment of 34 lakh pounds – i.e. around Rs 28 crore.

Under this acquisition, Mahindra’s subsidiary brand Classic Legends obtained the license of the BSA Company, and will use the same for marketing, selling and distribution bikes across the globe. The company had announced that the first BSA motorcycle will be a global model that will be launched in Italy, US and the UK. Mahindra is now focusing towards premium niche segments, and untapped markets with its new acquisitions – BSA Company and Jawa Moto. Jawa brand has always been admired for its classic looking motorcycles. Production of the new Jawa bikes will take place at Mahindra’s Pithampur facility. The two-wheeler maker had announced that it will bring the first Jawa bike in India towards the end of 2018.
