Likely to be unveiled at Auto Expo 2018, the Jawa 350 motorcycle will be launched by the end of 2018.
We informed you earlier that Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown automaker is planning to re-launch the Jawa bikes in the Indian market. The company had acquired the Jawa and BSA brands in 2016, and launched the official website of Yezdi bikes. If media reports are to be believed, Mahindra will launch the first bike under the Jawa brand in India before the end of next fiscal (March 2019). Report further suggests that the homegrown automaker is considering the new 2018 Jawa 350 motorcycle for the Indian market. The retro-styled motorcycle was revealed in early 2017 and is already on sale in select international markets.
It is expected that the 2018 Jawa 350 retro-styled motorcycle could make its India debut at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. The motorcycle is likely to be developed at Mahindra’s Pithampur plant, and the production could commence in the second half of 2018. The new Jawa 350 motorcycle design is inspired from 1970s 2-stroke bikes with modern-day elements. It is powered by a 350cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is capable of producing 26bhp of power and 32Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual gearbox. It is confirmed that Mahindra will launch the first Jawa motorcycle in the Indian market before the end of next fiscal year (March 2019). It is expected that the Jawa 350 motorcycle could be the first motorcycle to be launched in India. The bike is likely to make its India debut at the Auto Expo 2018 in February, The production of the bike is expected to commence in the second half of 2018 at Mahindra’s Pithampur plant. This retro-styled motorcycle will target Royal Enfield buyers. This bike will be locally developed at Mahindra’s production facility in Pithampur. In a bid to grab some market share in this segment, Mahindra is aiming to price this bike competitively. We believe that this 350cc motorcycle could be priced under Rs 1.5 lakh.
This new retro-modern styled motorcycle is propelled by a single-cylinder, 350cc engine, which is sourced from the Chinese engine manufacturer Shineray. This engine is capable of producing a maximum power output of 26bhp along with a peak torque of 32Nm. A four-speed gearbox driving the power to the rear wheel will be on offer. However, the India-spec model could feature a 5-speed unit.The bike could also get an ABS (Anti-Lock Braking system) as optional safety feature.
For suspension mechanism, the bike will have 150mm telescopic forks at the front and 80mm telescopic at the rear. The braking duties will be carried out by disc and drum at the front and rear, respectively. It is also expected that the India-spec Jawa 350 could share engine specs from Mahindra Mojo, which is a 292cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine is good for 27bhp of power at 8,000rpm and 30Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 5-speed gearbox.
This motorcycle is expected to return around 25kmpl of mileage in city and 30kmpl on the highways.
This retro-styled motorcycle is claimed to have a top speed of 120kmph. We believe that the India-spec model will have similar fuel efficiency.

The global model rides on 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels shod with 100/90 and 130/70 tyres at the front and rear, respectively. This motorcycle comes with a wheelbase of 1,420mm and 760mm of seat height. The motorcycle comes with a dry weight of 154kgs and it could have 17-litres of fuel tank.
The Jawa 350cc is a retro-styled motorcycle and is available with multiple customisation options. There is a version that comes with a small fairing and with rectangle-shaped headlamp. The most common model has round headlight and comes without fairing. The motorcycle looks like a replica of Jawa type 634 motorcycle, which was extremely popular in the 70’s and 80’s. The bike rides on 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels, and gets 150mm telescopic forks at the front and 80mm telescopic unit at the rear.
Aiming at Royal Enfield Buyers, the 2018 Jawa 350 retro-styled motorcycle will be powered by a new 350cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke engine.
