Best SUVs In India Under Rs 10 Lakh

The Indian customers are currently under the grip of SUV fever that has lead automakers to shift gears to compact models priced below Rs 10 lakh band. Every year we see new entrants jumping on the bandwagon to claim a pie of the chunk. Attributed to affordability, comfort and performance, these models check off almost every parameter requisite in a suitable vehicle and while more new models are underway, for those planning to bring home a SUV, we bring you 10 best SUVs in India under Rs 10 lakh.

1. Ford EcoSport

New Ford EcoSport 2017 Comfort Review

Ford recently launched facelifted EcoSport in India with over 1600 changes that embodied a new front, plusher cabin and an all-new engine. Interestingly, even with these changes, the SUV’s price did not get a bump and it continues to sell at the same price. The new trapezoidal grille, bold fog lamps, sculpted hood and a wider air-dam inject aggression to the face. Prominent changes have been made to the interior and it gets Ford’s new SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto which was missing in the previous version. While the 1.5-litre TDI unit has been retained, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost has been dropped and it gets a new 121.3bhp, 1.5-litre petrol unit.

Price – Rs 7.31 lakh to Rs 10.99 lakh

Competition -Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra NuvoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and Honda WR-V.

2. Mahindra TUV300

Mahindra TUV300 front-side

Known for making rugged UVs in India, Mahindra bite the dust with its Quanto model in the subcompact segment. The company however launched a slew of models to offer a good variety to the customers in the budding segment. The TUV300 is one of the three subcompact SUVs offered by Mahindra. Despite being less than four meters in length, it offers comfortable space to occupants. In terms of power, the SUV gets a choice between 85.1bhp, mHawk80 and 101.3bhp, mHawk100 units. Equipped with a bunch of new-age tech, TUV300 misses out on a petrol unit, though it is one of the few models in the segment to get an AMT gearbox along with a standard manual unit.

Price – Rs 7.67 lakh to Rs 10.65 lakh

Competition – Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon

3. Honda WR-V

Honda WRV Design Review

Honda introduced its crossover-like sub four-meter model earlier this year and the company’s delight, it has received an overwhelming response from the customers. Based on the Jazz, it carries over most of the elements from its donor hatchback, albeit new styling bits have been added to give it a distinct personality. Power sources on the SUV include Honda’s 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol with 89bhp and 110Nm torque and 1.5-litre i-DTEC good for 99bhp along with 200Nm torque. Sadly, WR-V is only available in a manual option and as for the engine line-up, Honda could add a more powerful 118bhp, 1.5-litre i-VETC unit to the carline in future.

Price – Rs 7.66 lakh to Rs 9.91 lakh

Competition – Ford EcoSport, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Fiat Avventura, Toyota Etios Cross and Hyundai i20 Active

4. Maruti Vitara Brezza

Maruti Vitara Brezza Review 10

Maruti Suzuki India is currently in a good space when it comes to UVs all thanks to its stellar model, Vitara Brezza. The company had launched Brezza only in diesel version, albeit a petrol powered Brezza is in pipeline and will soon be added to the line-up. For the Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki uses the tried and tested 1.3-litre, oil burner with 88bhp and 200Nm torque. The frugal engine supported by a manual unit, is claimed to return 24.3km/l in ideal conditions. An automatic unit is missing in the carline and we hope Maruti soon adds one to the Brezza line-up.

Price – Rs 7.23 lakh to Rs 9.69 lakh

Competition – Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Honda WR-V

5. Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon Handling Review

Tata finally launched its long-awaited subcompact SUV in India this year at am astonishing price of Rs 5.85 lakh. Available with petrol and diesel engines in manual options, the SUV will soon receive an AMT gearbox. Built on Tata’s IMPACT design theme, the SUV sports edgy design and offers a spacious cabin to the occupants packed with a bunch of segment first features such as the floating dashtop HD touchscreen, multi drive modes, Grand central console with sliding tambour door mechanism and Harman sourced infotainment system.

Price – Rs 5.85 lakh to Rs9.44 lakh
