After the price reduction, the Nissan Sunny has become India’s most affordable premium sedan.

2017 Nissan Sunny, the popular sedan from the Japanese carmaker, has received a heavy price cut in India. After the price reduction, the base petrol XE trim of the sedan now comes at Rs 6.99 lakh and the top diesel trim costs at Rs 8.99 lakh (all ex-showroom, Delhi). This makes it the most affordable premium sedan in the country. Interestingly, the company has also discontinued the mid-level XL CVT variant from the lineup. Early this year, Nissan introduced the Sunny facelift with minor cosmetic and mechanical upgrades priced between Rs 7.91 lakh – Rs 10.76 lakh (all ex-showroom, Delhi).

2017 Nissan Sunny Facelift Exterior

Exterior design of the sedan has been revised with the new front grille, re-designed bumpers, larger headlamps and new Y-shaped 12-spoke alloy wheels. There is a chrome trim around the fog lamps, chin section and boot lid. Comprehensive changes have been made inside the cabin. The 2017 Sunny looks more upmarket with all-black interior with black fabric seats and new black interior panels. What further enhance its premium appeal are new chrome finished door handles, new steering wheel design with mounted audio controls, piano black centre console trim and leather upholstery & steering wheel wrap.

No mechanical changes have been made to the vehicle. The saloon is available with the same engine options –  1.5-litre K9K dCi diesel  and a 1.5-itre HR15 petrol. The diesel motor, with a 5-speed manual gearbox, dishes out a peak power of 84.8bhp and 200Nm of torque at 2,000rpm. On the other hand, the petrol unit belts out power worth 97.6bhp at 6,000rpm and 99.6bhp at 5,6000rpm with manual and CVT gearbox respectively. The torque figures of this motor stand at 134Nm.

While the engine options for the new Nissan Sunny 2017 facelift remain unchanged, the mileage and NVH levels have been significantly improved. For the record, Nissan claims that the updated Sunny returns a mileage of 17.97kmpl (petrol CVT), 16.95kmpl (petrol MT) and 22.71kmpl (diesel).
