Yamaha EC-05 e-Scooter India Launch By November, 2019

Yamaha EC-05 electric scooter was unveiled for the Taiwanese market in June, 2019. It’s the first product developed under the partnership of the Taiwan-based Gogoro and Yamaha Motor. According to a fresh media report, the Yamaha EC-05 e-scooter will be brought to India by a Bengaluru-based vehicle rental company – Drivezy. Drivezy India is planning to add the electric scooter to its fleet by November, 2019. In the first phase, the vehicle rental brand aims to import 5,000 units of the Yamaha EC-05.

The company also plans to setup a separate electrics subsidiary with an investment of around $20 million to $ 25 million. Drivezy India is looking for a partner to establish charging stations for its electric vehicles across the nation. Currently, the vehicle rental brand has around 15,000 petrol-powered two-wheelers in its portfolio and aims to increase it up to 60,000 by December, 2019. As mentioned above, the Yamaha EC-05 uses Gogoro-sourced swappable battery system offering a range of 110km. It can attain a top speed of 90kmph and accelerates 0 to 50kmph in 3.9 seconds. Design of the electric scooter is quite simple with features such as oval-shaped LED lights and alloy wheels. Painted in Dark Matte Blue shade, the EC-05 offers a fully digital instrument cluster and disc brakes as standard fitments.
