We informed you earlier that Volkswagen will launch the Polo based T-Cross SUV in the global markets in 2018. If media reports are to be believed, the compact SUV is also coming to India to rival Hyundai Creta. It will be based on the VW Group’s MQB-AO platform that also underpins the Volkswagen Virtus sedan. This model has been spotted testing in the snow. Going by the pictures, it is visible that the SUV will follow the VW family design.

The new VW T-Cross shares design cues from the T-ROC crossover, but it will get a rugged SUV-like styling. The spotted model’s front and rear were covered that suggest that the vehicle shares doors and roof section with the Polo hatchback. The latest generation Polo comes with elegant front fascia, but the T-Cross compact SUV will have different and more aggressive front fascia. This compact SUV will be equipped with full-width grille and black side skirts. Reports suggest that the T-Cross will have a wheelbase of 2,560mm, which is around 90mm more than the previous Polo.
Volkswagen is yet to reveal the engine details of the SUV, but the engine range to start with a 109bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol unit. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and dual-clutch automatic gearbox. In India, this compact SUV will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and Nissan Kicks.
