The UV market is going to flourish more as multiple new models are ready to launch in the segment in FY2022. The Indo-Japanese carmaker aims to expand its UV product portfolio with at least 5 new SUVs/MPVs in coming years. The plan outlines the new-generation Maruti Vitara Brezza, updated XL6 MPV, 5-door Jimny off-road SUV, a Baleno-based sub-4 meter SUV and a mid-size SUV developed under Suzuki-Toyota partnership.
The Maruti XL6 facelift is reported to arrive in January and the new-gen Vitara Brezza is likely to hit showrooms in February 2022. While the Jimny and Maruti-Toyota SUV will come sometime next year, the launch timeline of the Baleno based micro SUV is yet to be revealed. The latter one will put up against the newly-launched Tata Punch.

A Compact MPV
The South Korean automaker will introduce three new UVs in 2022 including the facelifted Hyundai Creta, updated Kona EV and an all-new compact MPV. Rumour has it that the company’s upcoming compact MPV will be named Hyundai Stargazer. Here, it will challenge dominance of the Maruti Ertiga along with fighting against the Mahindra Marazzo and the upcoming Kia MPV (KY).
The 2022 Hyundai Creta facelift will make debut in coming weeks in Indonesia. The SUV will witness significant cosmetic and feature upgrades, while the engine options are likely to remain unchanged. The 2022 Hyundai Kona EV will come with two powertrain options – 39.3kWh battery with 136bhp electric motor and 64kWh battery with 204bhp electric motor.
