It is no secret that Suzuki is preparing a 5-door version of the Jimny off-roader, which will ride on a longer wheelbase. The 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny has been spotted for the first time without any camo. The SUV was snapped via Google Street View in the Lime Green Shade, which is also offered on the 3-door version.
Going by the spy image, it is visible that the 5-door Jimny looks out of proportions. The front looks similar to the existing model. The front door is the same offered on the 3-door model, whereas the rear door is smaller. The wheelbase is significantly longer than the existing 3-door model, which in return offers a low ramp-over angle.
The new model will come with new bumpers and a new front grille. The SUV will share the styling with the facelifted version of the 3-door Jimny, which is scheduled to make debut in the first half of 2022. Previous leaked information reveals that the new 5-door Maruti Suzuki Jimny will be based on the Jimny Sierra. It will ride on 300mm longer wheelbase, and the length of the SUV will be increased by 300mm.
The increase in wheelbase and length will help in offering more space inside the cabin. It will measure 3,850mm in length, 1,645mm in width and 1,730mm in height. The SUV will have a wheelbase of 2,550mm, while the ground clearance stands at 210mm. It will have a kerb weight of 1190kg, which is 100kgs higher than the 3-door Sierra.
The new Maruti Suzuki Jimny LWB will come with modern features such as LED DRLs and LED tail-lamps, reverse camera, parking sensors, etc. It will be fitted with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of features, the SUV will offer automatic climate control, hill hold assist, rear AC vents, cruise control, powered ORVMs, height adjustable driver’s seat and many more.
The new Suzuki Jimny LWB is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with mild hybrid system. This engine produces 100bhp of power and 130Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic. The international-spec model is likely to get a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a mild-hybrid system.
