Toyota to Launch 3 Cars in India in the next 12 months

Japanese automaker, Toyota is all set to launch 3 all-new utility vehicles in the Indian market in the next 1 year. The company will launch the Fortuner facelift, Urban Cruiser and the Innova Crysta facelift in India.

If media reports are to be believed, Maruti Suzuki has officially announced that it will start supply of the second model – the Vitara Brezza compact SUV to Toyota Motor Corporation under the alliance. Toyota compact SUV is rumoured to be called the Urban Cruiser. It is expected to be launched in the country during festive season, between August-October 2020.

While the Glanza hatchback is just a re-badged Brezza, the Urban Cruiser is expected to receive significant design changes to distinguish itself from the Brezza. The Toyota Urban Cruiser will receive new soft body parts such as new bumpers and grille. Inside the cabin, the compact SUV is likely to get new brighter colour schemes and different graphics.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser will receive the 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with mild-hybrid system. This engine produces 105bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.

Japanese automaker will unveil the Fortuner facelift in Thailand on June 4, 2020. The new model will receive cosmetic design changes in the form of new grille inspired by the RAV4. It will have newly designed headlamps with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lights), new front bumper and newly designed alloy wheels. The cabin will receive a new touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.

Upcoming Toyota Cars

The upcoming Fortuner facelift is most likely to be offered with the new BSVI compliant 2.7-litre petrol and 2.8-litre diesel engines. The diesel engine offers two states of tunes – 174bhp/420 Nm with 6-speed MT and 174bhp/450 Nm with 6-speed AT.

Toyota will also launch the Innova Crysta facelift, which is yet to be spotted testing in Thailand or any other country. The MPV will also receive changes in-line with the Fortuner facelift. It will have new front design with revised headlamps and new tail-lamps. The cabin will also be upgraded with a touchscreen infotainment system, which is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

BS6 Toyota Innova Crysta

The Toyota Innova Crysta facelift will continue to be offered with the BSVI compliant 2.4L diesel and 2.7L petrol engines. While the oil burner makes a top power of 148bhp with 343Nm of torque, the gasoline motor delivers 164bhp with 245Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox with RWD (rear-wheel-drive) will be standard and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission will be optional.
