Toyota Rush Crash Test

The new Toyota Rush SUV performs well in adult occupancy and child occupancy protection along with safety assist systems.

Japanese automaker, Toyota had unveiled the new Rush compact SUV in the Indonesian market in late 2017. ASEAN NCAP has revealed the results of the latest round of crash tests, which also includes the new Rush SUV. The seven-seat SUV has secured five stars in the ASEAN crash test results.

According to the ASEAN NCAP results, the Toyota Rush scored 84.03 out of 100. The SUV performs well in adult occupancy and child occupancy protection along with safety assist systems. The SUV is equipped with several safety and security features like six airbags, ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic BrakeForce Distribution), traction control, stability control and hill-start assist.

The Toyota Rush is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that also powers the Yaris sedan. This engine is capable of producing 105bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the SUV gets a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque converter automatic.

Previous reports claim that Toyota is planning to launch the Rush SUV in the Indian market. However, Japanese brand has partnered with Suzuki for product sharing. As per the agreement, Suzuki will provide Baleno and Vitara Brezza to Toyota. On the other side, Toyota will produce the Corolla sedan for Maruti. If reports are to be believed, the first cross-badged model will be launched in the second half of 2019. Adding to it, both manufacturers joined hands to produce electric cars.

Toyota has recently launched the new Yaris sedan in the Indian market. Available in petrol version only, the new model is priced between Rs 8.75 lakh and Rs 14.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The sedan is equipped with a range of segment-first features like gesture sensing touchscreen infotainment system, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, 60:40 rear split, adjustable three-neck restraints for the rear seat, ambient lighting, seven airbags, tyre pressure monitoring and a front parking sensors.
