SUV segment in India is ready to witness some big launches this year. In fact, 5 new SUVs are inch closer to their launch including Jeep’s Meridian, new-generation Brezza and Scorpio, long-range Nexon EV and the Venue facelift. Here’re key details of the upcoming SUVs.
Jeep Meridian
The American SUV maker has officially commenced bookings for its upcoming Jeep Meridian 7-seater SUV from 3rd May. Its market launch is likely to happen in coming weeks, while deliveries are planned to begin in the third week of June 2022. The Meridian shares its platform with the Compass, though it has longer wheelbase with grown dimensions. For power, the SUV uses the 170bhp, 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbocharged Multijet diesel engine with the 6-speed manual and 9-speed automatic gearbox options. New-Gen Maruti Brezza
Maruti Suzuki’s top-selling Brezza SUV is ready to enter into its second generation in coming weeks. Its official launch date is yet to be announced. As we know so far, the 2022 Maruti Brezza will receive over 25 design, feature and mechanical upgrades. In fact, the company is reported to make some changes to its bodyshell and offer more advanced safety fitments to achieve top safety rating for it. Long-Range Tata Nexon EV
Unofficial bookings for the long-range Tata Nexon EV have been commenced ahead of its official launch. The new model is reported to come with the larger 40kWh battery pack promising a range of over 400km on a single charge. However, the figures will vary in the real world conditions. A range of new features might also be on offer including ventilated front seats, an air purifier, electronic stability program, selectable regeneration modes, etc. Minimal cosmetic changes will also be made to the new model. Updated Hyundai Venue
Hyundai India is gearing up to launch the Venue facelift in the coming weeks (as per media reports). Most of the updates will be cosmetic including the new Tucson-inspired grille, newly-designed headlamps with LED DRLs, new tailgate with L-shaped taillamps and new alloy wheels. Interior could be updated with a revised infotainment unit and new BlueLink connected car tech. New-Gen Mahindra Scorpio
The next-generation Mahindra Scorpio is reported to debut in June 2022, followed by its launch near around Diwali season. The SUV will have massive body built with grown dimensions. It will witness noticeable cosmetic changes and feature upgrades along with the more powerful engine setup. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will sit on a new ladder-on-frame chassis and employ a 2.0L mStallion petrol and a 2.2L turbo diesel engine under the hood.
