2021 is going to be an exciting year for the SUV enthusiasts as there’s a range new 7-seater family cars, which are slated to hit Indian roads. Here’s a brief on the top 5 upcoming new 7-seater SUVs that are planned for 2021.
1. Tata Gravitas
Scheduled to launch in the first quarter of 2021, the Tata Gravitas will be the most expensive and premium vehicle from the home-grown carmaker. Compared to its younger sibling – Harrier, the Gravitas will be longer, wider and taller. In fact, the carmaker will equip it with some extra goodies and make a few changes to its exterior. Under the hood, the new 7-seater SUV from Tata will feature 2.0L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine making 168bhp and 350Nm. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
2. New-Gen Mahindra XUV500
Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed that the second-generation XUV500 will come in the first quarter of 2021, followed by the new Scorpio. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will receive several features for the first time including electric parking brake, level 1 autonomous technology and a new 2.0L mStallion petrol engine making 190bhp with 380Nm. The SUV will also be offered with a more powerful 2.2L mHawk diesel engine making 180bhp. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and automatic unit.
3. New-Gen Mahindra Scorpio
The new-generation Mahindra Scorpio will arrive at showrooms in between April – June, 2021. Recently, the carmaker trademarked new names for the SUV’s all-new model in 4 different formats including Mahindra Scorpio Sting. Similar to the new XUV500, the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will come with the new 2.2L mStallion turbo petrol engine that will be tuned for generating power worth 130bhp and 320Nm. There will also be a 2.2L mHawk diesel engine making 150bhp and 320Nm. Compared to the current generation, the new one will be bigger and more spacious.
4. Hyundai Creta 7-Seater
The South Korean carmaker will bring in the 7-seater version of the Hyundai Creta in the second half of 2021. Reports suggest that its production version will be named ‘Hyundai Alcazar’. Compared to the 5-seater Creta, the Alcazar will be bigger and have more cabin space and features to offer. Its engine setup is likely to include a 1.4L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel unit making power worth 138bhp and 113bhp respectively. It might be offered with 6 and 7-seat configurations featuring captain seats for the second row and bench-type seats respectively.
5. Jeep Compass 7-Seater
The American carmaker will introduce the Compass 7-seater SUV towards the end of 2021. Though, it will come with a new nameplate. Based on the monocoque platform, the bigger Compass will feature more pronounced haunches over the rear wheels, a newly-designed D-pillar section and a larger quarter glass. Powering the new Jeep 7-seater SUV will be the same 2.0L, 4-cylinder Multijet turbo diesel engine that does duty in the 5-seater Compass. Though, it will be tuned for producing power worth 200bhp. For performing transmission duties, the model will have a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
