2021 Mahindra Scorpio – New Engines, Improved Design, More Features

The new-generation Mahindra XUV500 and Scorpio will be the next big launches from the home-grown carmaker. Both models are slated to hit roads early next year. We have already seen the new models in multiple spy pictures and videos. Talking about the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio, the SUV will take a big leap in terms of design, features and engine mechanism. One of the biggest changes will be made under the hood. The new Scorpio will come with both petrol and diesel engines. While the petrol model will use an all-new 2.0L mStallion turbocharged motor, the diesel version will get an updated, more powerful 2.2L mHawk unit. The Scorpio’s new petrol engine will deliver power worth 150bhp and 320Nm of torque. The power and torque figures of the updated oil burner could be higher than the existing unit that makes 130bhp and 320Nm. The model lineup will come with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox options.

2020 Mahindra Scorpio Upgrade

The spy pictures confirm that the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will look more robust and refreshing than the existing model. Upfront, the SUV will feature a 5-slot grille, new headlamps with LED DRLs, a longer bonnet and revised bumper with wide air intakes. The new-generation model will have bigger footprint with extended C-pillar. Unlike the test mule that was spotted with steel wheels, the production version (higher trims) will come with alloy units. The rear section might be revised with LED taillights and a larger tailgate with easy ingress and egress.

Similar to the new Thar, the new 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will underpin modified version of the existing ladder-on-frame chassis. Interior of the new-generation model is likely to be bigger and well-equipped than the existing one. The SUV might receive a new touchscreen infotainment system, new rear AC vents, a new multi-functional steering wheel and more safety features. The front-facing bench seat for the third row could be made standard on the new Scorpio.
