Tata Sierra Production Model Imagined As A 5-Door SUV

At the 2020 Auto Expo, Tata Motors had showcased the Sierra lifestyle SUV concept alongside the HBX micro SUV concept and the Gravitas. For people not in the know, Tata Motors had introduced the Sierra in 1991. The SUV had huge fan following; however, it was discontinued in 2000 due to poor sales. With new concept, Tata Motors revealed its intentions of bring back the Sierra nameplate in the country.

While Tata Motors hasn’t revealed anything about the possible re-introduction of the Sierra, a new rendering reveals that possible design of the production version of the lifestyle SUV. The rendered image is based on the concept. It looks aggressive and rugged, and has some resemblance with the original model.

The render has typical Tata grille with honeycomb pattern and sleek LED headlamp. It features dual-tone bumper with round headlamps and skid plate at the lower part. The black treatment can be seen all around the body. The black plastic cladding, squared-off wheel arches, black-colour alloy wheels and blacked ORVMs give it an aggressive profile.

The Tata Sierra was originally introduced as a 3-door lifestyle SUV with a large glass area. In fact, the concept had 3 doors and large glass area and sliding door for rear occupants. However, the digital artist has added a regular door with large windows in the production render. The render presents a typical 4-door SUV with 5/7 seat option. The SUV retains the boxy shape and high-ground clearance, and flat roof.

We believe that the next-gen Tata Sierra lifestyle SUV could be launched with off-road capabilities at a premium price tag. It is expected to be based on the OMEGA ARC modular architecture, which underpins the Harrier and the Gravitas. The new model is expected to measure above 4.3 meters in length. The SUV could be fitted with a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine producing 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
