Hyundai Alcazar – 7-Seater Creta Launch Expected In H2, 2021

Korean automaker, Hyundai had launched the new-gen Creta SUV in the country in March 2020. Despite Coronavirus pandemic, the new Hyundai Creta received an overwhelming response from buyers. It is currently the best-selling SUV in the country, clocking over 12,000 sales per month. In order to further boost sales, Hyundai is expected to launch a bigger 7-seater Creta in the second half of 2021.

We reported earlier that the 7-seater Creta could be called the Hyundai Alcazar. In fact, Hyundai has trademarked the Alcazar nameplate in the country and classified it as an SUV. The longer model has already been spotted testing in South Korea. The upcoming 7-seater Creta is likely to feature longer wheelbase to accommodate third row of seats. The longer version of the SUV will directly rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Tata Gravitas and the Mahindra Scorpio.

The spy images suggest that the Hyundai Alcazar will receive significant design changes to make it look different from the regular model. It will be fitted with all-new chrome-studded raidator grille, restyled bumper and revised headlamp. The SUV will also receive front-parking sensor, which is missing in the 5-seater model. The 7-seater Creta is rumoured to be based on a 20mm longer wheelbase and the length of the SUV has been increased by 30mm.

The side profile will receive maximum changes, as it will have new 17-inch alloy wheels, larger rear overhang to accommodate third row of seats, silver-coloured sill, flatter roof, usable roof rails and slimmer C-pillar. It is likely to be offered in 6-seat and 7-seat options. While the 6-seater Creta will have captain seats for the second row, the 7-seater Creta will receive bench-type seats. The company will also use the 433-litres of boot offered in the 5-seater model to create extra space for the third row of seat. It will also get flexible seats to provide larger boot space.

Similar to the Creta, the Alcazar will receive high-end features like 360 degree camera, blind-spot detection, head-up display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless charging, electric panoramic sunroof, multi-functional steering wheel, cruise control, powered and ventilated front seats.

The upcoming Alcazar is likely to be offered with 2 engine options – a 138bhp, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol and a 113bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be offer. It is likely to cost around Rs 11 lakh to Rs 18.5 lakh, which will make it around 1 lakh expensive over the standard variant.
