The new-generation Mahindra XUV500 will be the next big launch from the home-grown carmaker in the country. The model is slated to hit roads early next year. With a generation change, the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will witness noticeable cosmetic and feature upgrades along with a new engine setup. Here’re the top 6 expected features that will be offered for the first time on the XUV500 model lineup.
1. Black alloy wheels
The latest set of spy pictures reveal that the second-generation XUV500 might be offered with the sporty all-black alloy wheels with new design. At present, the SUV comes with 17 and 18-inch wheel options.
2. Dual-tone interior
We also get to see the XUV500 with dual-tone interior treatment for the first time. The second-generation model will be bigger than the existing one and have more cabin space to offer. The spy pictures reveal that the SUV will get a flat bottom steering wheel with mounted controls, a clutter-free dashboard, automatic climate control, chrome finish around AC vents and on door handles. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will be offered in two seating layouts – 6 and 7-seats.
3. Mercedes-like Touchscreen
The SUV’s new-generation model will also receive an updated infotainment system. This time around, it will come with the Mercedes-Benz inspired single-piece wide display that will work as a touchscreen info unit and an instrument panel. It could be an exclusive feature of the top-end trims.
4. Level 1 Autonomous Tech
The second-generation XUV500 could be the first Mahindra car to get level 1 autonomous technology. If it happens, it will also be the most affordable vehicle to offer such feature. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 might come with ASAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) that includes adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, drowsiness detection, lane-keep assist and blindspot detection.
5. Electric Parking Brake
The SUV’s all-new model will come with electronically controlled parking brake that will allow the driver employ brake pads to the rear wheels by activating the holding mechanism with a button.
6. New Petrol Engine
For the first time, the Mahindra XUV500 will be made available with petrol powertrain. The model will receive a new 2.0L mStallion engine with turbochargers and direct injection technology. It will deliver power around 190bhp and 380Nm of torque, which will be the most powerful Mahindra engine. The SUV will also come with updated, more powerful 180bhp, 2.2L mHawk diesel engine. Transmission choices will include 6-speed manual and automatic units.
