Tesla Inc. has received 2.50 lakh pre-orders for its newly-unveiled electric pickup truck – the Tesla Cybertruck. On Tuesday (26th Nov.), Elon Musk, the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at Tesla, shared this information on Twitter. Official bookings of the electric pickup truck were commenced just after its unveiling on 22nd November, 2019.

Interested buyers can pre-book the Tesla Cybertruck by paying a sum of $100, which is fully refundable. However, the production of the pickup truck will begin in late 2021. Prices of the Cybertruck start from $39,900.

Tesla Cybertruck Specs

The Tesla Cybertruck has stainless steel body built, which is used in rockets. It comes in three variants – Single Motor Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and Tri Motor All-Wheel Drive. The top-spec tri-motor AWD variant delivers a claimed range of 800km in a single charge. It can do 0 to 96kmph in less than 2.9 seconds. While the entry-level single motor RWD trim promises range over 400km, the dual-motor AWD variant offers range over 480km.

Tesla Cybertruck Features

The electric pickup truck offers a towing capacity of 6.4 tonnes. The Tesla Cyberturck can be charged at home, at destination charging locations or with Tesla’s charging network that includes over 14,000 superchargers.
