Tata Hornbill Micro SUV Rendered With IMPACT 2.0 DESIGN

Tata Hornbill Rendering 2

The production-ready Tata Hornbill is expected to be unveiled at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo.

After tasting success with Nexon and Tiago, Tata Motors is now readying a range of new models for the Indian market. The company will launch the Harrier SUV in January, which will be followed by the 45X premium hatchback and a 7-seater SUV. What’s interesting is that Tata will launch an all-new Micro SUV in the market. Internally known as the Tata Hornbill X445, the micro SUV is scheduled to make its debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in March.

Ahead of the debut, a new rendering reveals the possible design of the new small SUV. To be positioned below the Tata Nexon, the Hornbill will challenge the Mahindra KUV100 and the upcoming Maruti’s micro SUV based on the Future S Concept. It will be based on the same Alpha modular platform that underpins the Tata 45X premium hatchback. However, the platform will see changes to accommodate a smaller size SUV.

Tata Hornbill Rendering

The Tata Hornbill’s design will be inspired by the brand’s new IMPACT 2.0 DESIGN philosophy. Going by the rendering, it is visible that the Hornbill could get separate headlamp and DRLs similar to the one offered in the Harrier. It is expected to get strong lines on the body with flared wheel arches. The rendering also has a dual-tone body paint scheme with contrasting roof and pillars.

The Tata Hornbill is likely to be available in petrol and diesel engine options. It is expected to get a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and a 1.05-litre diesel engine, which also powers the Tata Tiago. Transmission options are likely to include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. Also See – Upcoming Tata Cars

While the Hornbill concept will debut in March, the production-ready model is likely to be unveiled at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. A possible launch around March-April 2020 can’t be ignored. The micro-SUV is likely to be equipped with several segment-leading features.
