Tata Harrier Red

Tata H7X will be longer and more powerful than the Harrier 5-seater SUV.

The long-awaited Tata Harrier 5-seater premium SUV will officially go on sale in January 2019. Bookings for the SUV have already been commenced and interested buyers can pre-book the SUV by paying an initial amount of Rs 30,000. The official pictures of the production ready Harrier is already out. We informed you earlier that the company will also introduce the 7-seat version of the SUV, which has been spotted testing in Bangalore. Codenamed H7X, the 7-seater Harrier will be the brand’s most expensive and flagship model in India.

Going by the spy images available on the internet, it is visible that the Harrier’s 7-seater version will have different D-pillar design and will have a longer body. However, the wheelbase of the SUV is likely to be similar to that of the 5-seater Harrier. It is expected to share the engine & gearbox options with the 5-seater model, but the engine will offer higher power and torque outputs.

The 5-seater model is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine producing 140bhp and 320Nm. It is expected that the Tata H7X will receive the same engine that will be tuned to offer 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. To be positioned above the 5-seat version, the H7X will challenge the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and the entry-level variants of the Toyota Fortuner and the upcoming Mahindra Alturas. The styling of the 7-seat model will be borrowed from the Harrier, though it will have subtle changes to give a refreshing feel. The SUV will be based on the OMEGA platform that is sourced from Land Rover’s D8 architecture. It is expected to be launched in the late 2019 or early 2020, ahead of BS6 emission norms. Moreover, the SUV’s engine will be BS6 compliant.
