Tata Motors is gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited Altroz hatchback. The hatchback has been spotted multiple times undergoing testing on Indian roads. In fact, the Tata Altroz has been spotted completely undisguised while shooting for an advertisement. Going by the recent development, it is expected that the Altroz could be launched in the country in late June or July 2019.

The Tata Altroz premium hatchback will directly rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the Volkswagen Polo. The premium hatchback also marks the debut of brand’s new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) modular platform, which will also underpin the upcoming H2X mini SUV. Adding to it, this platform will also be used to develop a new SUV codenamed Blackbird. This SUV will be based on the Nexon and the Harrier SUV.

Tata Altroz TVC Spied

The Tata Altroz hatchback is the second model based on the IMPACT 2.0 DESIGN language, which we have already seen on the Harrier SUV. The hatchback will be available with 2 engine options – a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. While the former is good for 102bhp and 140Nm of torque, the oil burner is good for 92bhp and 210Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. Previous media reports claim that the company is also working on a dual-clutch automatic gearbox to power the Altroz. The Tata Altroz hatchback will share the interior with the Nexon compact SUV, featuring a freestanding touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other features include automatic climate control, multi-functional steering wheel, electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors, LED headlamps and tail-lamps, etc.
